Direct Payments
Direct payments are available to anyone who is eligible for help from social care. They allow you or the person you care for to receive money to buy services or equipment to meet eligible needs, instead of the council arranging this.
A social worker or care manager will be able to provide further information on Direct Payments when they assess your/your relative’s needs.
Direct Payments are tax free and will not affect any benefits you may be receiving.

The Buzz Network is a group for Southampton Parents/Carers of Children and young people with a disability or additional needs. It is funded by Southampton City Council who work closely with the Southampton Parent Carer Forum to ensure it is meeting the needs of families.

Shared Lives is a scheme run by Southampton City Council where individuals and families provide care in their home for up to three people with disabilities, aged over 18. Care is offered to individuals who will benefit from living in the community or in a family home.

Working with adults who live in Southampton who have learning disabilities.
A team of Health and Adult Social Care professionals with different specialist skills, including nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, social workers, care managers, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and an art therapist. There is also an Intensive Support Team who can help with complex needs.
